Bangkok rocks…

My socks.

Well we’ve both arrived safely, and are happily sweating it out in the backpacker district of Bangkok. It seems to be some sort of bizarre twist of fate for Callina and I travelling that our first night in any city we seem to gravitiate towards the dingiest possible hotel (note: this may or may not be related to the fact that everything else is booked out in advance), but on the upside dingyness didn’t equate to bedbugs seeing as we’re pretty much sleeping on a piece of wood covered in matress.

Personally, I love bangkok from what I’ve seen so far, it’s got the cultural aspect that I really like about south east asia, with the added bonuses of people not perstering you for ages after you refuse to buy whatever object you may have accidentally glanced at. So far, I really like this place.

Sweating it out in Bangkok. Slept on the flight with out too much trouble and today have organised out train tickets up to Chang Mai tomorrow night. Had planned to stay longer in bangkok but is too hot and dirty and all the accomodation we tried with Air / Con was booked out. Learnt our lesson and have booked in for our last night in bangkok in a place with air con and a pool!

The food is great, but we are yet to get out of the real touristy area. Planning to spend the rest of the day looking at the sights and seeking out a good massage place ;).

Its funny it doesnt really feel like we are in another country, other than the constantly having to divide everything by 30 to work out how much something costs… (and then gasping at the price and offering 1/3).

Looking forward to Chang Mai.
