We have stayed in various styles and price ranges of accomodation over the past 4 weeks and one thing seems to be common and particulary noticiable. This is the aparrent lack of/unique senese of style/interior decoration.
Blue tiles with pink grout, and green tiles with blue and this might all be in the one bathroom (as it was on Ko Phangan).
They will also clean a floor to death but ingnore grime on walls and celings! This preocupation with floors goes to the extreem of sweeping the dirt in gardens so that all leaves that fell during the night have been removed. i understand the concept of tidyness behind this but in the end it is a GARDEN and your SWEAPING DIRT. I feel the leaves would ulimately become one with the dirt so why bother moving them (also they return needed nitrogen to the soil :p)?
On an unrelated note, spent a few days diving off Ko Lanta (highly recomended) and now ensconsed in Ko Phi Phi. Have the Tsunami handbook (provided for free by the department of Mineral Resources) and now know what to do incase of Tsunami caused by Meteor.
